Water and Florida are almost synonymous. Here are some examples:
- Florida has 1,350 feet of coastline, surrounded on 3 sides by the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of America.
- The state is dotted throughout with thousands of lakes.
- Beautiful rivers, underground aquifers and springs flow throughout the state.
- Florida is home to Everglades National Park, the largest subtropical wilderness in the U.S.
It may seem like we have an endless supply of water. . . but don't let that fool you.
Our state has more than 23 million residents.
And Florida welcomed over 142 million visitors in 2024!
Those millions of people use a lot of water.

We also enjoy spending time around, on, and in the water--fishing, surfing, swimming, boating, and more. Floridians and tourists love relaxing in our beautiful natural areas.
And we have industries, and thousands of acres of farmland, all thirsty for a supply of the good stuff.
We often take our precious water for granted.
